MESSAGE TO KING DREW FAMILY:
Welcome back to school King/Drew Family! As your new Assistant Principal, I am excited to join you in the journey in leading our students to becoming college and career ready. I look forward to getting to know you all—students, parents, teachers, staff and community members. We have a legacy of greatness to uphold, and I look forward to this partnership.
Here is a little bit about my background: I started my teaching career as a sheltered English teacher and girl’s basketball coach at my alma mater, Pueblo HS, in Tucson, Arizona. I moved to Los Angeles in August 2001, where I was hired as an English teacher at Hamilton High School in LAUSD. My educational path includes seventeen-years in the classroom teaching a variety of high school English courses, including Honors, Honors Mexican-American and African-American Literature, sheltered English and AVID. Throughout my teaching career I’ve held various positions including Girls basketball coach, AVID, ELD, Title 1 and Gifted Coordinator, as well as Athletic Director. Before coming to King Drew HS, I was Instructional Coach at Girls Academic Leadership Academy Michelle King School of STEM.
Fun facts about me: I was born in Chicago and am a fan of all Chicago sports teams. I lived in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and have an identical twin sister. I come from a family of teachers and educators. As the year progresses you will get know me through my core values around education.
My office is housed in the Attendance office, please stop by and introduce yourself.
