LA: An Ode to Our Black and Brown City
King/Drew Historians, Ms. Lopez and Ms. Moore-White, have partnered to create and share with students and staff their collaborative efforts to empower, embolden, and build community within our virtual platform. They ask the Essential Question: Why should we learn OUR Los Angeles history?
- To empower students as active community participants through learning about their communities and cities regardless of their demographics
- To analyze the historical and material context of our communities and their leaders
- To center the experiences of Black/African American, Brown and Indigenous people of Los Angeles in our historical memory(Black, Indigenous, People of Color- BIPOC)

We have been developing ways to allow our students the opportunity to interact with, learn from, and build community with scientists, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, researchers, artists, engineers, educators, and other working professionals virtually. We would love to have your support, wisdom, and presence in our online learning community. Please sign-up to present solo or with your team. You can select from interview, panel discussion, or webinar style. Presentations that include audiovisuals (slides, videos, etc.) are highly recommended. K/D Career Talks will be recorded and available on our K/D Vision YouTube Channel and our Enrichment Opportunities webpage.
CAREER TALK SESSIONS are at 9am and 10:30am
- Interview Career Talk -- A one-on-one interview with a Senior Ambassador with Q&A. (Wednesdays and Thursdays) ~20 minutes
- Panel Discussion by Career Cluster -- Participate in a panel discussion along with other professionals in your field. (Wednesdays and Thursdays) ~40 minutes
- Friday Career Talk Webinar - Multiple presenters will each give a 5-minute presentation with Q&A discussion to follow. ~30 minutes
