Los Angeles Unified is back to school and back in-person. There is no substitute for in-person learning, friendship and physical activity, which is why we have committed to putting into place the highest safety standards and protocols at every campus to welcome our students back for the 2021-22 school year, beginning Monday, August 16.
All of our schools will offer full-day instruction, five days a week, along with recess, after-school programs, lunch and meal breaks with classmates, athletics and extracurricular activities.
Los Angeles Unified has the highest standards of safety. All schools have upgraded air-filtration systems and necessary supplies including masks and personal protective equipment. Face masks and daily health checks will be required. Custodial staff has been increased to keep our schools clean and safe. All unvaccinated students and staff on campus will test for COVID-19 and access to vaccinations will continue. Los Angeles Unified will update these protocols as necessary to the latest public health guidelines for student safety.
We’ve also put together the LA Unified Back to School Family Guide (found below) for you and your family to learn more about our academic, social, safety plans and requirements for this coming school year. The most important piece to our return, however, is you. What makes our schools so special are those who bring our campuses to life – our students, families, teachers and school site staff.
We hope that you share in our excitement, and will share your excitement with others, so that our students can be welcomed back to school with the community support they so deserve.
And thank you for your understanding and support last year, and for everything you do for your family.
