Potential Work Stoppage

Hello King Drew Family. This is Principal Brookens with an important message for parents, guardians, and employees.

Our teachers work hard every day to help our students reach their full potential. However, because L.A. Unified has not yet reached an agreement on a new contract, members of United Teachers Los Angeles may take strike action.

In the event of a strike, the District's goal has always been to keep schools open so that our students do not miss the opportunity to learn. If there is a strike there will be no Extra Curricular afterschool activities and no late buses. The District is proactively assigning Central Office staff to schools and has taken steps to procure services from outside vendors to ensure that student operations remain seamless on our campus should a strike occur.

In addition, L.A. Unified has created a resource guide for families, which is posted at www.lausd.net, to help parents and students prepare for a possible work stoppage.

L.A. Unified will continue working to find solutions that take into account our economic realities, as well as our students' needs. Thank you.
