ASB Theme Dress Days

THERE ARE NO FREE DRESS DAYS!
 
Theme dress days are ONLY for those who have an ASB sticker.

No torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing 
No leggings 
No crop tops; no tied shirts; no showing midriffs
No spaghetti straps 
Shoes must ALWAYS adhere to dress code policy.

Adhere to guidelines in order to maintain privileges.
 
These rules apply to ALL theme dress days!
 
September, 2023
  • 15th - Mexican and Central American Independence Day Explanation: you may wear non stereotypical cultural attire with blue jeans. 
  • 29th - Blue Jean Friday (last Friday of month) OR Nigerian Independence Day 
    Explanation: college shirt/hoodie, KD shirt, non stereotypical Nigerian wear and blue jeans ‼️All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
 
October, 2023
 
FALL SPIRIT WEEK
  • 2nd - Monday Barbie and Ken Day (Barbie Movie) 
    Explanation: You may choose to replicate/create an outfit that represents Barbie or Ken!  You may wear a pink/blue shirt with blue jeans. ‼️All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️ 
  • 3rd - Tuesday: Twin Day
    Explanation: You may pick a friend or a group and dress alike. All clothes must be school appropriate with no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
  • 4th - Wednesday: Super Hero Day 
    Explanation: You may wear/dress up as your favorite superhero (dc vs. marvel)‼️ All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
  • 5th - Thursday: Cartoon Day 
    Explanation: you may dress up as your favorite cartoon character!! This can range from bugs bunny, spongebob, winnie the pooh to chicken little. . ‼️All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
  • 6th - Friday: Decades Day
    Explanation : you may dress up as any decade of your choice Pre 2000s. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s!!  No 2000s!!! We can't wait to see your y2k 2000s outfit Saturday at our homecoming 😉 ‼️All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
 
  • 13th - Breast Cancer Awareness Day
    Explanation : may wear pink to support breast cancer awareness day/month ‼️All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
  • 17th - Wellness Day
    Explanation: college shirt/hoodie or KD shirt, and blue jeans
  • 27th - Latinx Assembly Themed Dress Day and Blue Jean Friday
    Explanation: college shirt/hoodie, KD shirt, non stereotypical Latinx wear and blue jeans
 
* ALL HALLOWEEN COSTUMES MUST BE APPROVED IN ADVANCE
  In the Leadership Center (room 106) during lunch through Monday, October 30
  • 31st - Halloween 
    Explanation: must have costume approved/ a card that was stamped by the ASB president and leadership to ensure the costume was approved and of standard KD dress code.
NO clown costumes or makeup.
NO weapons or replica weapons.
NO extreme face MAKEUP.
NO MASKS (other than health masks).
NO stereotypical outfits representing groups, including ethnic groups.
NO costume may be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard. 
NO costumes may not impair an individual's movement.
Your costume MUST match the description/photo on your approval sheet.
 [If guidelines are not met, parents will be notified to bring school uniforms and/or students will be given a loaner to wash and return ASAP!]
 
November, 2023
  • 17th - Blue Jean Friday (last Friday of month) OR Fall Colors
Explanation: college shirt/hoodie, KD shirt, fall colors and blue jeans ‼️All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
 
December, 2023
  • 15th - Blue Jean Friday (last Friday of month) OR Falalalala Holidays *Disney Channel Holiday Edition*
Explanation: college shirt/hoodie, KD shirt, holiday top, inclusive of Christmas, Kwanzaa and other holiday celebrations, and blue jeans ‼️All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
 
January, 2024 
  • 26th - Blue Jean Friday 
Explanation: college shirt/hoodie or KD shirt and blue jeans ‼️All clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
 
February, 2024
  • 14th - Valentines Day 
Explanation: you may wear blue jeans with a pink top (NO RED!!!!) !!All Clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
  • 23rd - Blue Jean Friday OR Black History Month Theme Dress 
Explanation: college shirt/hoodie or KD shirt or a non-stereotypical shirt representing black culture and blue jeans. !!All Clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
 
March, 2024 
Spring Spirit Week
  • 18th Monday - Future Career Day
Explanation: dress up as a professional future career you aspire to be when you grow up. This must be school appropriate and professional wear only! Examples : Doctor, Nurse, Lawyer, Painter, Teacher 
(Be prepared to show a picture of your future career you are dressed up as the day of)  (no red, no legging pants or tight fitting pants, no crop tops, no ripped or torn jeans and must adhere to King/Drew dress code standards Including shoes).
  • 19th Tuesday - Twin Day
Explanation: Dress up in groups of 2 to 4 in same clothing to look like twins (you can either show up with your twin, or you must have a picture of your twin in the look alike clothes ready to show in your on hand at the front door with your ASB sticker on ID) (no red, no legging pants or tight fitting pants, no crop tops, no ripped or torn jeans and must adhere to King/Drew dress code standards Including shoes).
  • 20th Wednesday- Throwback to Your Old Ways Day
Explanation: dress up like a kid/old childhood photo of you (must have the childhood look alike picture on hand at the front door with your ASB sticker on ID) (no red, no legging pants or tight fitting pants, no crop tops, no ripped or torn jeans and must adhere to King/Drew dress code standards Including shoes).
  • 21st Thursday - Teacher Swap Day
Explanation: teachers may wear King/Drew uniforms and students may wear an outfit a King/Drew teacher may wear (must be professional!) (no red, no legging pants or tight fitting pants, no crop tops, no ripped or torn jeans and must adhere to king drew dress code standards including shoes).
  • 22nd Friday - Blue Jean Friday/Women's Day
Explanation: you may wear a King/Drew uniform shirt or a women's empowerment shirt with a slogan or saying on it that empowers women/from a famous quote from a woman (must not be red!) or the King/Drew Women's Day shirt with blue jeans. 
 
April, 2024
  • 22th - Earth Day 
Explanation -  you may wear brown or green/earth colors with blue jeans (no blue jeans with King/Drew top allowed, must be earth color top with blue jeans for this day) 
  • 23th - Denim Day * ALL KING/DREW STUDENTS MAY PARTICIPATE 
Explanation: you may wear blue jeans and/or a denim jacket with a king drew top NO RIPS ALLOWED!
  • 26th -Blue Jean Friday and Multicultural Assembly 
Explanation: college shirt/hoodie or KD shirt or a non-stereotypical cultural shirt and blue jeans. !!All Clothes must be school appropriate with no tight or fitted skirts, no torn, ripped, shear, or cut clothing. No leggings and shoes must adhere to dress code‼️
 
May, 2024
  • 31st - Blue Jean Friday 
Explanation: may wear blue jeans with a king drew shirt OR college t- shirt

June, 2024 
  • 7th - Blue Jean Friday 
Explanation: may wear blue jeans with a king drew shirt OR college t- shirt
 
KING/DREW UNIFORM
 
The uniform policy is strictly enforced throughout the school year.
 
King/Drew colors are bumblebee gold, black, and white ONLY. 
  • Black, white or bumblebee gold King/Drew t-shirt/V-neck/sweatshirt/sweater with King Drew logo. Shirt worn under King Drew uniform must be King Drew approved colors 
  • Black, white, or bumblebee gold turtlenecks or t-shirts can be worn under uniform shirt
  • Plaid uniform pants, uniform skirts, skorts, and/or shorts may be worn no more than 3” above the knee
  • Black uniform pants and/or shorts may be worn no more than 3” above the knee
  • Black, white or bumblebee gold leggings may only be worn under uniform skirts
  • Black, white, or bumblebee gold coats or jacket (No denim or non King Drew logos) 
  • Black, white, or bumblebee gold rubber soled tennis shoes or boots - NO other colors permitted (No flip flops or open toed shoes)
  • Plain black, white, or gold caps with bibs facing forward only be worn outside of the building only
  • Black, white or bumblebee gold belts without initials or logos
  • PE uniform must be worn only during PE class 
  • Medicine and Science Careers scrub sets must be worn on assigned Hospital day and may be worn by all students ONLY on Fridays
  • Club and organization shirts may be worn any day
  • Sports team members may wear their team warm-ups or team teams on game days ONLY
  • Black, white or bumblebee gold dress shirt, tie and jersey must be worn on game day for football players
 
 
ITEMS NEVER ALLOWED:
  • Leggings, jeggings, stretch, sweatpants, nylon warm-up
  • Brand name logos: Hollister, Pink, Aeropostale, sports teams, nicknames, or drug insignias)
  • Body piercings or chains
  • Extreme hair colors; non-natural colors such as pink, red, green, purple, blue are NOT allowed
  • Bandanas, hair scarves, curlers, sweatbands, and/or wave caps
  • Clothing or accessories with graffiti, ripped, torn or clothing with holes
  • Midriff, sleeveless, or off-the-shoulder shirts
